Nowadays, we tend to take a lot of care of ourselves when it comes to our physical appearances. Is this a bad thing? Of course not. We should always feel comfortable in our own skin and it's perfectly fine to be better. Looking after yourself is a healthy habit. But of course, we should always appreciate our bodies, despite the changes we desire. The fact that you have one is a blessing in itself. All your self-perceived flaws and features are a reflection of Divine art , something so beautifully real.
We can only recognise our true beauty if we practice self-love but I'll be honest with you, for most this is difficult. Especially with platforms such as Instagram/Facebook/Twitter. We tend to see images of celebrities and idols with physical appearances that are craved by many, creating insecurities or amplifying the lack of confidence you carry within you. (This is totally me!!:( )
Sometimes we forget that images are not only tampered with, so that they can visually sell an idea, but sometimes individuals have also had surgery to increase their confidence. This is because we are always judging. This not only affects how we perceive others, but also how we perceive ourselves. We develop a critical nature and begin to manifest a very judgemental and insecure world. Never let the ideals of physical beauty that society sets, allow you to devalue yourself , nearly everything is driven from insecurity or a desire to feel more confident, or sell something.
There are many people out there that you may find attractive physically, or vice versa. In a world that's constantly impacted and trying to get closer to the ideals of physical beauty that society has set, you must offer more. Your heart, mind and spirit must depict beauty too. After all, isn't beauty more than what we can perceive physically?
For those of us that are fortunate to live a long life, we are going to get older. We may start to experience weight gain, stretch marks, receding hair, wrinkles, dark circles, etc. Our bodies can change but our inner beauty doesn't. It's about the good soul not about their good body. It's like boys think girls are like books. If the cover doesn't catch their eye they won't bother to read what's inside. Every girl is beautiful inside and outside even if they have a plain face. All priorities go for internal beauty. If you're going to invest your time in yourself, don't forget to invest time in your character. You'll get a better return on investment.
